  1. Being able to accurately capture all the data at a crime scene is an invaluable tool for only on the investigators but lawyers and jury. These 3D scanners allow for the recreation of a crime scene to be used in analyzing the crime as well as in the courtroom to present an accurate account of the crime. This is an invaluable tool for being able to capture the state of the crime scene before any contamination and having access to the scene after the fact for future study. Providing assistance to both the police and law system in an invaluable asset for society. I wonder if this technology will be used to archive historical items and sites. Imagine being able to walk around in a 3D scanned rendering of one of ancient pyramids, not recreated from photos but a 3D scan of the actual place.
