Mobile Forensics

This article talks about today's forensic examiners and how they look at mobile devices and digital information just like any other piece of evidence- examining every possible detail, in a forensically sound process. Just like physical evidence at a crime scene can be contaminated if carelessly observed or manipulated, it is a digital forensic examiners duty to analyze a device without causing any changes, to the original evidence- a cell phone in this case, in a 'read only' fashion.

  1. Technology has certainly increased the capabilities that we have today. It allows us to stay in contact with one another, provides educational tools, is a marketplace for buyers and sellers and offers a wide variety of other tools and services. But with this increase in technology also has come in an increase in technological based crimes.

Identity theft and child pornography are just two of the many crimes that have increased since the development of the internet. People can have access to all sorts of information about you and are able to distribute items quickly and easily to others. Within just minutes a life can be destroyed.

Digital forensics is a rather new and growing field. Because of the advances in technology this field needs to keep growing and evolving. Criminals involved in internet and technologically based crimes are coming up with all sorts of ways to cover their tracks so it is so important to have people specializing in this field so that we are able to bring justice to the victims involved.

  2. I think the forensics is one of the departments that use the most techs in US. Forensics is a main part of our world to solving crimes. And nowadays anybody can be a forensics expert with use if an everyday technologies. As you see in this picture that the iphone has an application that you can use to figure things out and for some people this might be a favorite application. And nowadays even laptops are equipped with a figure print scanners. Some laptops require your finger print in order to use that particular laptop and only a person that the laptop belongs to can access it. So by looking at these features in phones and laptops already have these features so just imagine how it will be in near future.

  3. I think forensics are mainly used in solving crimes. Since computers have been a huge part of our lives, forensics have been mainly depended on computers. Computers have revolutionized the forensics because without computers it would be impossible to match the results. Finger prints is a vital piece of information for any investigation. It has been used for long time. A fingerprint technology is being used to solve mysteries and find killer. Fingerprint technology will never go away because it is the easiest to find and toughest evidence in the courtroom. The forensics are a huge part of criminal justice.
Mobile forensics have been a huge upgrade from computers. Now everything can be done by your phone with proper applications. The new Iphone from apple have a unique heat sensing technology, which only works with your finger. It doesn't work with a pen, pencil, paper napkins. So the new technology have improved in a huge way for our pleasure. Even laptops have a finger print scanners. I can't wait for the next invention in this field.
